Mission:
The Santa
Fe Springs Community Playhouse was established in 1986,
and is a nonprofit corporation, which promotes and fosters
civic culture and educational interest in drama by presenting
theatrical productions to the community.
The Playhouse was founded to:
· Educate, develop and
encourage community interest,
support and involvement in cultural and performing arts.
· Provide cultural and personal enrichment for the
benefit of the
citizens of Santa Fe Springs and its surrounding communities.
· Provide an opportunity for citizens to participate
in theatrical productions.
· Provide a well-rounded background in theatre arts.
· To provide outlets for local talents with opportunities
for learning,
development and performing before live audiences.
· Provide quality theatre experience for community
members
Our first
responsibility is to be responsive to the objectives and
growth of our community at large, without whose support
we could not remain operational. Secondly, we have a responsibility
to our youth. Early exposure to the arts and to a variety
of the worlds cultures and societies may give new generations
a broader sense of our basic humanity in the increasing
global community in which they will undoubtedly have to
function. Furthermore, the arts have the potential to expand
lives by showing that the quality of life can be measured,
not only by material possessions, but by the beauty, joy
and truth it contains. This is a powerful insight, which
can help youths counter the pervasive threat of drug use
and gang influence. Music, drama, dance, public speaking,
and the "back stage" technical aspects of theatre
can give these youths something they can be involved in.
For this reason, the community is indeed fortunate to have
this organization, which contributes, not only to keeping
the arts alive, but to the education of its youth as well.
The Board
of Directors is an essential part in the support it takes
to make the Playhouse successful. The Santa Fe Springs Community
Playhouse is dependent upon the support and assistance of
the community it serves. The Playhouse is always in need
of ushers, hosts and hostesses and behind the scenes workers
to build sets, sew costumes, assemble props help fund raise
and much more. It is essential to the survival of the Playhouse
to have a strong following.
If you would like to Volunteer
your time to assist with any of our
functions or productions, or if you have any other questions
about membership, please contact us.
